Jack Miller admitted that finishing 30 seconds behind the winner at the Silverstone MotoGP highlights Yamaha’s current struggles. Miller crossed the line in 13th, just behind Fabio Quartararo, and was promoted to 12th after Quartararo’s post-race penalty for a tyre sensor infringement.
“I gave my all today and unfortunately my all today was 13th position. It is what it is,” Miller said. “Fabio and I were riding together for most of the race, and I think that shows the level we’re at right now. We tried to fight with the other guys, but you can only do that for a certain amount of time. At a certain point, the extra risk you have to take… starts to have an effect towards the second half of the race.”
Miller pointed to significant tyre degradation as a key limitation, noting the slippery track conditions and the challenge of managing tyres over the final seven laps. He also praised the Aprilias, which swept the podium led by Raul Fernandez: “The Aprilias seemed to manage the tyres very well again today… they seem to have the whole package working very well when it comes to tyre conservation and management.”
Pramac team director Gino Borsoi echoed Miller’s concerns: “The gap to the front is obviously not where we want to be… mainly due to the tyre degradation we experienced. We need to work on improving the grip and make sure we can be more competitive throughout the entire race, rather than only in the opening laps or over a single lap.”
Miller’s teammate, Toprak Razgatlioglu, picked up the final point in 15th place after Quartararo’s penalty. The team now turns its focus to improving race-long performance and tyre management as the season continues.
