Jorge Martin, a key MotoGP title contender, has been declared fit to participate in Friday’s practice at the Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang. Martin fractured his right wrist during a sprint race crash with Marc Marquez at Phillip Island, causing him to miss the Australian Grand Prix. However, updated scans confirmed the injury was a non-displaced fracture and ruled out further damage.
Following a pre-event check by the FIM Grand Prix World Championship Medical Team, Martin has been cleared to ride his Aprilia, with another review scheduled after the first practice session.
Martin’s clearance keeps his title hopes alive, with just a ten-point gap to Marquez and four rounds remaining in the season.
Meanwhile, Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse Aprilia, who missed Phillip Island due to a finger fracture, also passed his Sepang medical assessment and is set to return.
Luca Marini and Joan Mir will also come back from recent illnesses this weekend. Weather forecasts point toward potential thunderstorms throughout the Sepang race weekend.
