Marc Marquez has delivered a concerning update on his physical condition following a challenging Silverstone MotoGP, revealing to his Ducati team that he had “no control over my right arm” during the race.
Marquez, who underwent surgery in May to relieve a compressed nerve, had hoped the summer break would provide enough time to rebuild strength. Instead, Silverstone proved his most difficult weekend since the operation. After struggling with rear tyre degradation in the Sprint, Marquez finished seventh in the main race—his worst result since returning from injury.
“Today the tyre was better. Physically I wasn’t there,” Marquez told his team in footage shared by Inside Ducati. “I was at risk of crashing. I had no control over my right arm. Compared to practices… I lost the front at turn 1 and 9. I didn’t like it.”
While Aprilia riders swept the podium, Marquez was only the third-best Ducati finisher, trailing his brother Alex and VR46’s Fabio di Giannantonio. The result leaves Marquez 40 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin.
The team’s woes were compounded by Pecco Bagnaia’s crash from 15th, further dampening Ducati’s weekend. “I don’t know how to explain it… The crash was in a phase… Maybe there was something on the ground that someone dropped. It’s impossible,” Bagnaia said.
Marquez’s ongoing struggle with his right arm, despite surgery and rehabilitation, now casts a shadow over his title challenge as the season enters its crucial second half.
