Marc Marquez has received another major honour, being named Spain’s best male athlete for 2025 by the country’s Higher Sports Council following his remarkable MotoGP comeback.
The Ducati rider dominated the 2025 season, claiming 11 Grand Prix victories and 14 sprint wins on his way to his seventh premier-class world championship and ninth world title across all Grand Prix categories. He secured the championship at the Japanese Grand Prix, ending a six-year wait for another premier-class crown.
The award recognises a journey marked by extraordinary resilience. After suffering a serious right-arm injury in 2020, Marquez underwent four major operations and endured years of physical struggles before rebuilding his career. His move from Honda to Ducati machinery ultimately helped him return to the top of the sport.
This is not the first time Marquez has received the honour. He was also named Spain’s best male athlete in 2014 after winning his second MotoGP title. More than a decade later, his latest achievement highlights one of the greatest comebacks in motorcycle racing.
