Despite ongoing regional instability due to the US-Iran conflict, the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) has confirmed “everything is a go-ahead” for hosting both Formula 1 and MotoGP events this season.
Motorsport calendars in the Middle East have faced major disruptions, with the Bahrain F1 Grand Prix already moved to Malaysia and lingering doubts over the fate of the Qatar F1 race (Nov 27-29) and MotoGP’s rescheduled Qatar Grand Prix (Nov 6-8). Reports also suggest MotoGP may cancel its Qatar round without a replacement, potentially reducing the calendar to 21 rounds.
QMMF president Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Latif Al Mannai remains optimistic: “The plan is to have the race. We are up and running and preparing for MotoGP, and it’s the same with our discussions with Formula 1. Of course, there are things that we cannot predict… but so far, everything is good. Everything is a go-ahead.”
While the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) was forced to move its Qatar and Bahrain rounds to Europe this year, the QMMF has confirmed Lusail will host the 2027 WEC Prologue and season-opener.
With preparations continuing, Qatar is determined to keep its motorsport commitments on track, taking a step-by-step approach as the situation develops.
