Brivio explains involvement in Trackhouse’s 2027 rider plans

Davide Brivio says he remains involved in discussions over Trackhouse’s future rider line-up despite already confirming he will leave the MotoGP team at the end of the 2026 season.

Earlier this month, Brivio and Trackhouse announced that the Italian would step down from his role as team principal, with reports linking him to a senior position at Honda’s factory MotoGP project.

Brivio revealed that he chose to make his departure public well in advance to ensure complete transparency as the team plans for the future.

“I wanted to be very fair with the team and tell them that I won’t be here,” Brivio said.

The experienced team boss explained that he did not want to take part in important rider-market decisions and then later surprise the team by announcing his exit.

“I wanted to avoid going into rider discussions and then saying, ‘Oh, sorry, I’m leaving,’” he added.

Brivio admitted the announcement may have come earlier than necessary but believes it was the right approach.

“Maybe we anticipated too much, but I felt it was the fair and correct way to do it.”

Despite his impending departure, Brivio continues to assist Trackhouse with preparations for the future, helping ensure a smooth transition as the team evaluates its rider options for the 2027 MotoGP season.
