Marco Bezzecchi admitted he is still dealing with the physical aftermath of his heavy crash at the Hungarian Grand Prix, revealing that pain in his injured right leg continues to affect him at Brno.
The Aprilia rider was involved in a major first-corner accident at Balaton Park less than two weeks ago and has not fully recovered. Although he produced an impressive performance on Friday by finishing second fastest in Practice behind teammate Ai Ogura, Bezzecchi said the injury remains a significant challenge.
The Italian explained that the opening session was particularly difficult as he continued to manage discomfort while adapting to the demands of the Brno circuit. Aprilia’s focus in the morning was centred on preparation work rather than outright speed, allowing the team to make improvements ahead of the afternoon session.
Despite ending the day near the top of the timesheets, Bezzecchi admitted he had expected to feel better physically by this stage of his recovery. The pain becomes more noticeable after only a few laps, making longer runs especially demanding.
While pleased with the overall performance and competitiveness of the RS-GP, the Italian acknowledged that the injury is still limiting him. He also noted the exceptionally high level across the field, with numerous riders posting strong lap times and race pace throughout Friday’s sessions.
Nevertheless, Bezzecchi remained positive about the start to the weekend. Finishing among the fastest riders despite the lingering effects of the crash gives him confidence heading into qualifying and the Sprint race.
As the championship contender continues his recovery, managing the physical strain over race distance could become one of the key factors in determining how competitive he can be for the remainder of the Brno weekend.
