Alex Marquez Takes Pole Position for 2026 Malaysian MotoGP at Sepang

Alex Marquez will start the 2026 Malaysian MotoGP from pole position after edging his older brother Marc Marquez by just 0.070 seconds in qualifying at Sepang.

The Gresini Ducati rider clocked 1:56.493 to claim his third MotoGP pole, with Pedro Acosta completing an all-star front row for KTM. The top five were separated by just 0.175 seconds, highlighting how competitive the field was.

Ai Ogura qualified fourth, followed by Marco Bezzecchi in fifth, while Francesco Bagnaia endured a difficult session and could only manage 10th. Meanwhile, Jorge Martin has withdrawn from the weekend as he continues recovering from his wrist fracture.

Alex will be looking to turn pole position into victory after crashing out while leading Saturday’s Sprint. Marc, meanwhile, starts second with another opportunity to extend his championship advantage.
