Marco Bezzecchi has undergone a routine procedure to clean a wound on his left knee following his heavy crash during qualifying at last weekend’s German MotoGP.
The Aprilia rider suffered multiple injuries in the Sachsenring accident, including a fractured collarbone, which required surgery the day after the crash.
Aprilia confirmed the latest update in a statement:
“Marco Bezzecchi underwent a routine procedure this morning to clean the wound on his left knee, an injury sustained during his crash at Sachsenring.”
The Italian has since returned home and will continue his rehabilitation as he targets a comeback at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone (7–9 August).
Bezzecchi’s recent run has been hampered by misfortune. Since winning the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello in May, he has failed to finish a Sunday race, collecting points only from Sprint races, with 13 points from the last four Saturday contests.
Aprilia remains optimistic that Bezzecchi will be fit to return for the next round at Silverstone.
