MotoGP rookie Diogo Moreira expects his future to become clearer by the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, amid growing speculation that he could earn a promotion to Honda’s factory team for the 2027 season.
The reigning Moto2 world champion has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in MotoGP, most recently charging from 18th on the grid to finish 11th at the German Grand Prix after serving a grid penalty.
Honda remains the only manufacturer yet to confirm its 2027 factory rider line-up. While Fabio Quartararo is widely expected to take one seat, the identity of his future teammate is still undecided.
Initially, Moto2 contender David Alonso was considered the favourite, but Moreira’s strong rookie performances have significantly boosted his chances of stepping up from LCR Honda to the factory HRC squad.
Already under a multi-year contract with Honda, Moreira says discussions will take place during the summer break.
“I don’t know! For sure, we will talk during this summer break, so let’s see in Silverstone.”
If Moreira secures the promotion, Alonso is expected to partner Johann Zarco at LCR Honda for the first season of MotoGP’s new 850cc/Pirelli era in 2027.
