Pedro Acosta, rising MotoGP star for KTM, took a unique approach to training ahead of the Aragon Grand Prix by competing in the Karting des 24 Heures at Le Mans last weekend. The 22-year-old joined his regular training partners from Go-Karts Mar Menor, racing in the Open Kart 270cc event with his trademark No. 37.
Acosta, a regular at his local track in Murcia, Spain, and a fan of four-wheeled racing, started eighth on the grid and spent the full 24 hours at the circuit—even sleeping on an air mattress in the garage. Though his team missed out on a podium, Acosta relished the experience, sharing on social media, “Amazing weekend competing in the Karting des 24 Heures. Thanks to Go-Kart Mar Menor family.”
The event organizers noted the honor of having a MotoGP star on the Prost B Track, highlighting Acosta’s commitment to motorsport both on and off the bike.
Acosta’s passion for racing extends beyond MotoGP, with recent visits to F1 and NASCAR events. He heads into Aragon seventh in the championship, 77 points behind leader Jorge Martin, and seeking a return to the podium after a tough run for KTM. The Austrian team, plagued by technical issues in recent rounds, is hoping that newly permitted engine fixes will restore some competitiveness—but Acosta acknowledges that more is needed to challenge consistently at the front.
KTM currently sits third in the constructors’ standings, trailing Aprilia and Ducati, as Acosta looks to bounce back in the second half of the MotoGP season.
