Marc Marquez Thanks Medical Team After Successful Double Surgery, Focuses on Recovery

Marc Marquez has issued his first update following a double operation on his right foot and shoulder, expressing gratitude to his medical team and supporters as he begins his recovery. The reigning world champion suffered a heavy highside during the Le Mans Sprint at the French Grand Prix, fracturing his right foot and aggravating a long-standing shoulder injury originally sustained at the Indonesian Grand Prix last October.

Marquez’s injuries forced him to withdraw from both the remainder of the French Grand Prix and the upcoming Catalan Grand Prix. With surgery already planned to address the damaged metalwork in his right shoulder, which was impinging on his radial nerve and affecting his consistency this season, the Spaniard opted to bring the procedure forward in light of his foot fracture.

In a message shared on social media, Marquez wrote: “I’m truly grateful for your kind messages and support. A special thanks to the medical team for their incredible work.”

Ducati has not announced a timeline for Marquez’s return, with team manager Davide Tardozzi emphasizing that his health is the top priority. The setback leaves Marquez 71 points behind championship leader Marco Bezzecchi, a deficit that could widen further during his absence.

Reflecting on his season so far, Marquez admitted that physical limitations have hindered his ability to fight for the title. “I already told you that I was not ready to fight for the championship,” he said after the Le Mans crash. “When you have a physical problem, you have a physical problem; you cannot do anything. It’s there where I need to take a rest.”

Marquez remains focused on recovery, determined to return to full fitness and competitive form as soon as possible.
