Marco Bezzecchi has provided a reassuring update on his recovery, confirming that he is healing “according to plan” with just two weeks remaining until the MotoGP season resumes at Silverstone.
The Aprilia Racing rider was sidelined for the German Grand Prix after a heavy Q2 crash at turn seven left him with collarbone and knee injuries. Bezzecchi underwent surgery on his collarbone immediately following the incident and had a separate procedure to clean a wound on his knee.
Despite the setback, Bezzecchi remains on track for his targeted return at the British Grand Prix. Speaking at the recent CIV Misano night race, the Italian said, “I’m better, the recovery is going according to plan.” While unable to ride, Bezzecchi enjoyed supporting his fellow VR46 Academy riders and catching up with friends and teammates at Misano.
His anticipated comeback at Silverstone will be a welcome boost for Aprilia, though the premier class will still be missing Johann Zarco, who continues to recover from knee injuries. LCR Honda has confirmed that Cal Crutchlow will once again substitute for Zarco at the British round.
With his recovery on schedule, Bezzecchi is poised to rejoin the MotoGP grid and continue his campaign after the summer break.
