Milan Stunned by Ferencvaros as Marseille, Juventus Claim Crucial Europa League Wins

AC Milan's Goncalo Ramos and teammates applaud fans after the match.

AC Milan suffered a shock 2-0 home defeat to Ferencvaros on Thursday, denting their Europa League hopes, while Marseille and Juventus both notched important victories to stay alive in the competition.

Milan’s Struggles Continue

Milan’s European campaign took another hit with their third loss in four matches, leaving them 28th in the standings with just three points and outside the playoff spots. Hungarian champions Ferencvaros, now tied on 12 points with Benfica and Bournemouth, raced ahead through a 52nd-minute strike from Lenny Joseph after a costly error by goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani. Joseph doubled the lead 14 minutes later, and despite being reduced to 10 men, Ferencvaros held firm for a statement win.

Coach Ruben Amorim vowed to keep fighting:

“I won’t give up on this competition. As long as we’re not mathematically out of it, we’ll keep fighting.”

Marseille and Juventus Claim Key Away Wins

Marseille secured their first group stage victory, winning 1-0 at Bayer Leverkusen thanks to a sensational solo goal from Amine Gouiri in the 77th minute.

Meanwhile, Juventus prevailed 2-1 at AZ Alkmaar. Teun Koopmeiners opened the scoring for the Bianconeri, before Randal Kolo Muani doubled the lead by capitalizing on a defensive mistake, drilling home their second before half-time. AZ’s Mexx Meerdink scored late but couldn’t spark a comeback.

Bournemouth Stay Perfect, Palace Rescue Draw

Bournemouth maintained their flawless record, making it four straight wins after coming from behind to beat Sparta Prague 3-1—even as the hosts went down to 10 men. Goals from Tyler Adams, Evanilson, and Rayan fueled the turnaround.

At Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace earned a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim despite playing over 10 minutes with ten men. Daichi Kamada’s stoppage-time goal cancelled out Alexander Prass’s early opener.

With unpredictable results shaking up the standings, the race for knockout spots in the Europa League remains wide open.
